About the business

We are a busy specialist consulting practice (Adelaide Skin & Eye Centre) and day surgery (Adelaide Surgicentre) located in Kent Town. Our facility specialises in skin cancer surgery, Mohs surgery, oculoplastic surgery and laser.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and hands on person who will be able to manage our business and co-ordinate all facets of the day to day activities of a busy practice.  They will manage our team of nurses, administrative staff and technicians and support the doctors to ensure our patients receive high quality, professional care.

The position is offered on a permanent basis (4-5 days a week – Monday to Friday) and the successful applicant will need to be a strong and competent leader with a minimum of 3 years experience in a Practice Management position, ideally in private specialist rooms.

Overall knowledge of the health sector will be essential and the job description involves:

  • Management of day-to-day operations, including IT, billing, administration and practitioner workflow,
  • HR management including recruitment, training, performance management, payroll (outsourced payroll processing),
  • Financial management with the support of external bookkeeping services,
  • IT knowledge and oversight of practice management systems,
  • Negotiation and management of the funding arrangements (with health funds),
  • Asset maintenance and management of the operating environment,
  • Safety and Quality Improvement activities,
  • Contribution to strategic and business planning,
  • Compliance with legislative, contractual and accreditation requirements.

About you

You must have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; to foster positive relationships with the team and medical professionals,
  • Capability to work within a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities,
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail,
  • A professional manner and a genuine commitment to deliver high quality patient care,
  • General proficiency in practice management software,
  • Proven experience in a Practice Manager or healthcare leadership role essential,
  • Experience within a day hospital environment and accreditation processes will be well regarded but not essential.
