AUSVEG is the national peak industry body for Australia's $5.8 billion vegetable, potato and onion industry. We are owned by growers for growers and are committed to advancing our industry by representing the interests of those growers. This includes through the delivery of high-quality services and programs in areas such as communications and extension, biosecurity and international trade development.

About the Role:

The Biosecurity Officer provides comprehensive support to the farm biosecurity program in delivering key objectives and outcomes. This role requires a versatile individual capable of handling a diverse range of tasks, from technical support to operational assistance and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Promote biosecurity awareness activities through seminars, presentations, and media releases.
  • Conduct biosecurity-relevant research as required.
  • Contribute to developing biosecurity Research, Development and Extension resources and tools and communication outputs.
  • Support the implementation of biosecurity programs and initiatives.
  • Provide logistical support for field activities including meetings, workshops, and other events.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Assist with project management tasks.

Selection Criteria:

  • Qualifications in Agricultural Science or a related discipline
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
