The Aboriginal Art Centre Hub of Western Australia (AACHWA) advocates on behalf of its member art centres located in regional and remote Western Australia. AACHWA delivers professional development programs for managers, boards, and artists; provides recruitment advice and services; and acts as an advocate to, and central point of contact for, Regional, State and Federal funding bodies.
About the role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated Project Accountant to join our dynamic team at our Perth office in a full-time fixed term (12-month) capacity.
We are looking for a friendly, pro-active individual with a can-do attitude who can support self and others. To succeed, you will hold a tertiary level qualification in accounting and possession of (or working towards) a CA or CPA qualification with a minimum of 2 years' experience within project accounting.
You will have sound knowledge of accounting and finance practices, processes and accounting standards particularly when applied to project accounting with experience using Xero.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
Monitor, and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial models for building/logistics/construction-related projects.
Track and analyse project costs (e.g. labour, materials, overheads), providing timely budget vs actual variance insights to the Finance Manager and recommendations for corrective action.
Generate detailed project-specific financial reports, including cost performance, profitability, revenue recognition, and forecasting updates, tailored for internal stakeholders and leadership.
Manage and process purchase orders, invoices, billing, receivables, and supplier payments related to projects; reconcile project-related accounts and ensure financial integrity.
Assist with audits, internal reviews, and project acquittals.
Process fortnightly payroll for 22 staff.
Process accounts payable and receivable.
Daily bank reconciliations.
Deliver on all project-related strategic financial activities, as directed by the Finance Manager and CEO.
Other Requirements:
- Must be an Australian Citizen / Permanent Resident.
- Have a National Police Clearance no more than three months old or Willingness to obtain one.
- Have a Professional Membership Certification (if applicable)
