Are you a passionate individual with lived experience as a young parent, looking to make a difference in the lives of others? Join our Young Families Program as a Peer Mentor and help create a safe, supportive, and empowering community for young mothers and their children.

Role Location: Yarrabilba

Employment Type: Part-time 10 hours per week

Pay Range: $ $35.67

About the Role

As a Peer Mentor, you will work alongside the House Coordinator and the Young Families team to support young mothers and their children living in transitional housing. Using your lived experience, you'll offer individual and group-based mentorship, helping young families build their confidence, parenting capacity, life skills, and prepare for long-term independence.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a holistic, strength-based program that aims to improve young parents' wellbeing and create positive developmental outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-deliver one-on-one and group-based support to young mothers in a transitional housing setting
  • Foster a cohesive, safe, and empowering community environment
  • Support young mothers in building skills for parenting, tenancy management, and independent living
  • Promote child-parent connections through meaningful activities and interactions
  • Advocate for young families and support their connection to community services
  • Contribute to culturally safe and inclusive practices, especially for First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse families
