We are a dynamic family-owned company operating independent supermarkets in the Central West areas of New South Wales. With a focus on fresh food, our vision is to deliver an exceptional shopping experience for our customers through quality produce, everyday lower prices and by supporting local growers and businesses. We are now seeking motivated and passionate Department Champion to help run our Bakery department teams in our Blayney store.
About the Role:
This full-time position of Department Champion requires a highly organised and capable individual who is responsible for the everyday performance and operations of the main departments. Ensuring the highest quality shopping experience by delivering a high standard of product, whilst engaging effectively with customers to maximise sales and profit through effective planning, merchandising and inventory control.
Attention to detail is essential and the successful candidate will have a key role to play in the success of our business, ensuring department appearance, customer service and operational functions are first class every day
Responsibilities:
- Outstanding customer service standards
- Lead and provide ongoing support, training, and development for your team
- Ensure the execution of pricing, promotions, and marketing plans
- Ambitious standards in visual presentation and store standards
- Inventory management including ordering, maintaining date and rotation of products
- Safety and compliance management including participation in department audits
- Profit and loss management, including sales, gross profit, and shrinkage budgets/targets
- Personnel cost management, including rostering
What we need from you:
- Previous retail experience including team leadership
- previous bakery experience (not essential)
- Customer service focused
- Ability to engage, mentor and lead a team
- Understanding of supermarket best practice including P&L management, inventory & merchandising
- Excellent communication skills
- Enthusiasm

Bernardi's now operate large format supermarkets and employ over 600 people in Blayney, Forbes, Bathurst, and West Wyalong as well as nine stand-alone Ten Tops & discount variety stores across NSW.
