We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our dedicated team in Tennant Creek. In this hands-on role, you'll play a vital part in supporting the ongoing maintenance and servicing of essential plant, vehicles, and equipment used across remote communities in the Barkly region. What You will Be Doing:

• Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines and heavy machinery across various sites, including remote locations.
• Breakdown Response: Attend to urgent repairs and breakdowns both in the field and workshop settings, ensuring minimal equipment downtime.
• Preventative Maintenance: Develop and follow scheduled maintenance plans to optimize the performance and longevity of fleet and machinery.
• Workshop Operations: Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment, including proper use of tools and equipment.
• Parts & Inventory Management: Identify, order, and track parts required for repairs, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
• Job Documentation: Accurately complete job cards, maintenance logs, and service reports in a timely manner.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow all WHS protocols and ensure all work complies with relevant safety and environmental standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with operations, fleet managers, and other trades to coordinate work and share technical expertise.
• Training & Mentorship: Support apprentices or junior staff as required, sharing knowledge and promoting skill development.

What We're Looking For:

• 3–5 years of experience as a qualified diesel mechanic or heavy vehicle technician, preferably in a field service or remote operations role.
• Trade qualification in Diesel Fitting or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (Cert III or higher).
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills across a variety of diesel systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple service tasks efficiently.
• Experience working in remote or regional environments is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of WHS and mechanical compliance standards.
• Proficiency in completing service records and basic computer-based reporting.

Qualifications:

• Trade Certificate in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology
• Manual Driver's Licence (essential)
• White Card (Construction Induction)
• Working With Children Check (Ochre Card)
• High Risk Work Licence (desirable – e.g., forklift, EWP)
