The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) is pivotal to the coordination of safe patient care, ward management and leadership with an understanding of the 'children first & foremost' philosophy to ensure optimum service delivery.
The NUM acts as a leader with advance role model skills that promote culture and standards that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
- Leads, directs and co-ordinates safe patient care
- Ensures practice is safe and effective, maintaining standards of care through continual quality improvements initiatives
- Manages the ward effectively and within agreed allocated resources
