Lifeline South Coast has been saving lives for more than 55 years by providing 24/7 telephone crisis support and suicide prevention services.  Our volunteers give their time, energy and expertise generously to achieve our vision of an Australia free of suicide, so that no person has to face their darkest moments alone.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Supervisor to join our team, providing high-quality supervision and support to our team of Crisis Supporters.

This multi-purpose role focuses on:

  • Providing debriefing, call coaching, constructive feedback and individual supervision.
  • Supporting the wellbeing of Crisis Supporters during and after shifts.
  • Managing escalation notifications (e.g., police, safety concerns) on behalf of Lifeline.
  • Contributing to a safe, supportive, and professional environment across our centres.

Flexibility to work across evening and weekend shifts at both our Wollongong and Nowra centres is essential.

About You

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Minimum Bachelor qualification in counselling, psychology or social work
  • A background in counselling, psychology, social work, allied health or crisis support (minimum 100 hours field experience).
  • Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills.
  • Experience in providing constructive feedback in a warm, supportive manner.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions in crisis situations.
  • Commitment to self-care, ethical practice and maintaining professional boundaries.

Desirable:

  • Experience on a crisis hotline.
  • Accreditation under a relevant professional body for Centre Supervisor component of role (provisional/full accreditation)
  • Cert IV in Training & Assessment or experience in training delivery.
