Systems Engineer

Due to an increased demand within our business, SYPAQ are seeking a
Systems Engineer
with Defence experience for a long-term opportunity with a Defence client. This can be a perm role with SYPAQ or a long-term contract. The role is based in Canberra and offers an immediate start.

Overview
The Program is responsible for the modernisation of the Land Network to meet the requirements of the 2025 Enhanced Force in Being, and the Objective Integrated Force. The Systems Engineer will work within a small project team within our Client, and alongside the LAND project team. Develop and refine capability scope and requirements, in concert with other Departments, as the project progresses to Government Second Pass consideration and through to Second Pass.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Systems Engineering Management of the project, within the Land Program capability framework, which includes interfaces with the project team.
• Planning, development and management of the Gate 2 capability definition documentation (within the engineering discipline)
• Planning and management of Gate 1 to Gate 2 risk reduction activities
• Planning and management of Gate 1 to Gate 2 requirements setting activities
• Providing support to technology environmental scans, and engagement with industry
• Stakeholder Engagement that spans engineering management, design authorities, integration authorities, integrated logistic support between different organisations in Defence.
• Contribute to traditional project acquisition activities that include: Risk Management, FIC Management, Integrated Logistic Support planning, Cost Estimation and Issues Resolution.
• Overseeing and mentoring other Systems Engineering staff, where appropriate, and demonstrating collaborative behaviours with other project staff.

Essential Skills, Qualifications And Experience

• Experience in preparing and delivering project documentation expected under the Defence Capability Life Cycle, including the drafting of Concept of Employments and Operational Concept Documents
• Demonstrated ability to engage with Defence stakeholders including ADF, APS and contractors
• Systems Engineering qualifications, or qualifications within a relevant field, with a minimum of five years' experience
• A good understanding of the Once Defence Capability System
