About the role

This major national security program represents an investment of over AU$1 billion to strengthen advanced strike, defence, and undersea capabilities. It includes the acquisition and integration of long-range precision systems, extended-range defensive technologies, and advanced undersea solutions.

As a Systems Engineer on this program, you will provide essential technical and engineering services across both in-service and future systems. Your expertise will help ensure the program's effectiveness, safety, and seamless integration into Australia's broader national security capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare key engineering documentation, including certification materials.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert (SME), offering technical and engineering advice across program phases.
  • Support test and evaluation activities, including planning, execution, and analysis.
  • Contribute to and provide technical advice in working groups.
  • Support project teams in resolving engineering and technical challenges.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in systems engineering or similar roles within defence, aerospace, or complex weapons programs.
  • Strong documentation skills, especially for certification or regulatory processes.
  • Deep understanding of guided weapon systems, combat management systems, or related maritime defence technologies.
  • Effective collaboration in multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, project management, evaluation, and technical working groups.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and drive resolution of technical issues in a timely manner.
