Why we have this role @ Koala
As the Head of Brand Marketing, you'll be instrumental in shaping Koala's brand strategy and driving its execution across integrated campaigns. You'll partner closely with our in-house creative team and marketing channel owners, ensuring compelling and effective storytelling that resonates with our customers. Your expertise in articulating clear positioning, crafting strategic briefs, managing campaigns, and orchestrating the marketing calendar will be central to you and your team's success.

What key responsibilities does this role have @ Koala?
Brand Strategy & Positioning

  • Partner with the Global Head of Creative and other key stakeholders to develop, refine, and uphold the brand positioning, messaging, and visual identity.
  • Ensure brand consistency and alignment across all relevant touchpoints.

Marketing Calendar Planning

  • Strategically plan, own, and manage the marketing calendar and planning cadences, ensuring alignment with business objectives, promotional rhythms, product launches, and cultural moments.
  • Proactively manage cross-functional coordination to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery of marketing activities.

Campaign Development & Management

  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of integrated brand marketing campaigns, including product launches, seasonal sale events & promotions, and brand-building initiatives.
  • Craft insightful, strategic creative briefs and collaborate effectively with our in-house creative team to deliver impactful, high-quality creative assets.
  • Partner with Heads of Growth and eCommerce, to bring campaigns to life cohesively.

Content & Storytelling

  • Develop and oversee engaging brand stories and content across owned, earned, and paid channels.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice, ensuring high-quality content that deepens customer engagement and drives brand affinity.

Brand Partnerships & Collaborations

  • Identify, manage, and execute strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and influencer collaborations.
  • Negotiate agreements and ensure partnership effectiveness aligns with brand objectives.

Market Insights & Research

  • Leverage consumer insights and market research to inform strategic brand decisions, messaging frameworks, and campaign development.
  • Stay ahead of market trends, customer behaviors, and cultural movements to identify brand-building opportunities.

Measurement & Analytics

  • Establish, track, and analyze KPIs, including brand awareness, consideration, sentiment, engagement, and campaign performance.
  • Regularly assess brand health through brand tracking studies, customer surveys, and digital analytics.

Ideal background...

  • 7-10+ years experience in brand marketing or similar relevant position, ideally in a DTC, retail, or consumer goods environment. Agency experience is also highly valued.
  • Exceptional skills in brand and product positioning, strategic briefing, campaign development, and marketing planning.
  • Proven success collaborating with creative teams, channel owners, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage complex marketing calendars and initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker with strong creative judgment and excellent communication skills.
  • Passionate about brands, storytelling, and consumer engagement.
  • Deep understanding of how modern brands are built on social media platforms.
  • Deeply curious - someone who naturally stays on top of online culture and trends.
  • Experience leveraging market research and customer insights to drive brand strategy.
  • Ideally experience in leading organic social, influencer, and earned media functions.
  • Interest in measuring your impact and understanding how brand links to commercial outcomes.
