About the Role

Reporting to the Broker Home Claims Team Manager, the Senior Claims Consultant will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of complex/sensitive/high risk Property claims. There will also be a big focus on upskilling and mentoring junior team members to uplift overall capability within the team.

This is a hybrid role is open to candidates based in NSW, QLD and VIC.

Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Manage a portfolio of sensitive claims, reviewing and settling of the more complex cases
  • Act as a referral point for claims officers to provide advice and approvals above authority
  • Provide information and feedback on claims activity and developing trends to underwriters/risk assessors to enable appropriate actions to be carried out
  • Setting reserves and authorising payment within scope of authority
  • Ad hoc assistance to the Team Manager where required

About You

  • Substantial claims experience (Personal Lines, Home and Landlord)
  • Excellent knowledge of the General Insurance Code of Practice, Insurance Contracts Act, breach management and escalation process, complaints handling and monitoring
  • Coaching and mentoring experience particularly in providing advice to peers within a claims team
  • Experience in dealing with a Broker Network
  • Keen eye for detail with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
