Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Business Operations and Legal Full time $150,000 - $200,000 per year

The Opportunity

We have a market leading international construction, energy, and infrastructure practice, and we are looking to continue investing in our Australian Projects team with further headcount in our Sydney office to support an exciting pipeline of projects, including renewable energy projects.

As a member of the Projects team, you will work closely with Partners and your colleagues on high profile front-end energy and infrastructure projects. In particular, you will be working on a range of large-scale renewable energy projects across Australia, including on wind, solar, BESS and hybrid projects, and for both contractor and developer clients.  Your day-to-day work will include assisting with drafting, negotiating, reviewing and advising on the full range of project documentation (including EPC, TSI, S&I, O&M and BOP contracts) and providing project delivery advice.

The Team

The construction of major energy and infrastructure projects is part of our DNA.

Our Projects team has significant experience advising on all aspects of the development and delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects, regularly acting for leading international and local developers, contractors and OEMs in relation to the preparation and negotiation of EPC, O&M, TSI, S&I, BOP, D&C and supply contracts, connection agreements and other ancillary construction and services agreements. Our team also regularly provides strategic procurement advice in relation to the early development phases of renewable energy projects, and also advice during project delivery.

Our team members have been involved in Australia's renewable energy market since its inception and have advised on some of the largest and most complex renewable energy projects in Australia and on many 'market-first' projects.

Candidate Profile

At Pinsent Masons we do things a bit differently and look for high-performers who are not afraid to try new things and question the status quo.

You will need to be an Australian-qualified lawyer, with at least 3 years post-qualification experience gained in private practice, along with the following skills and attributes:

  • Demonstrated experience working in front-end construction law (ideally also with experience on renewable energy projects)
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to assimilate information quickly and handle multiple priorities under pressure or within tight timeframes
  • Collegiate and collaborative
  • Be commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced high-performing team
  • Bring energy and passion to the role

About Pinsent Masons

Pinsent Masons is one of the world's leading law firms, with a rapidly growing presence in Australia built on a reputation for outstanding work for clients and genuine care for its people.

We focus on five key sectors: Advanced Manufacturing & Technology, Energy, Financial Services, Infrastructure and Real Estate. Our practice teams – Finance & Projects, Property, Risk Advisory Services and Transactional Services – work collaboratively across these sectors.

The result is work for blue-chip clients on the full lifecycle of vital projects and transactions that shape markets across the world.

In Australia, we are rapidly growing with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. We are well connected into our global network, which results in rewarding work and unique career opportunities.

Most importantly, we are a purpose and people led law firm.

Our purpose is to make business work better for people. That means constantly questioning how the world works and then being bold with our responses.

Our people are what drive this purpose. We want lawyers who bring their own unique experience to the firm, are constantly curious, and who meaningfully connect with their colleagues and clients. In return, we provide an environment where our lawyers can drive their development, work flexibly and learn fast.

What will we offer you?

  • We have a global reach and a local feel. With 28 offices and 2000 lawyers operating across Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, you'll be exposed to domestic, international and multi-jurisdictional high-profile work, yet be in an office where everyone knows your name.
  • We do things a bit differently. Legal services are at the core of our business, however we have diversified into other areas providing complimentary services to clients through offerings like Vario flexible services.
  • We like to be flexible. Our firm is professional and allows you to bring our whole self to work. Dress for your day and in your own style and participate in practices that support your wellbeing, mental wellness and work/life balance so that everyone can thrive at work and at home.
  • We're lots of fun and very inclusive. You'll also have plenty of opportunities to participate in, and even run, social activities, diversity and inclusion networks, and charitable initiatives.

Diversity and Inclusion

At Pinsent Masons we value diversity and inclusion. We are committed to creating a better workplace where all our talent can succeed and feel like they belong. We want to attract, retain and develop people at all levels and encourage applications from all suitably qualified candidates whatever your ethnicity, religion, age, physical or mental disability/long term condition, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression or any other characteristics protected by local law in the jurisdictions in which we operate.
