RoleThe Numeracy support officer works with students needing additional help to build their Numeracy skills in order to access the at-standard curriculum. This includes working with individual students and small groups using evidence-based approaches to accelerate their Numeracy development. The role will mainly work with Secondary students, but may also involve supporting students in the primary school.
Responsibilities- Work with teaching teams to implement numeracy intervention programs for students identified as requiring additional support.
- Provide one-on-one and small group assistance to students to build numeracy skills, including number fluency, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning.
- Support students who are English as an Additional Language (EAL) through targeted strategies that develop mathematical language, vocabulary, and confidence.
- Support assessment and data collection processes, including maintaining accurate records of student progress.
- Assist with the preparation of resources and materials to support differentiated numeracy instruction across year levels.
- Use a range of evidence-based strategies and tools to support the development of numeracy skills, including the use of concrete materials, visual supports, and digital platforms.
- Contribute to creating a numeracy-rich environment throughout the College.
- Liaise with classroom teachers, Year Level Leaders, Numeracy Learning Specialists, and EAL specialists to ensure consistent approaches to numeracy support.
- Support the use of technology and digital resources in numeracy learning.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling student information
