Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Secondary Design Engineer. This role will provide specialist engineering design and leadership across substation and protection projects. In this role you will support the delivery of complex design solutions, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance within a large-scale electrical network environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality secondary design solutions for zone substations, industrial substations, and distributed generation connections
  • Provide expert advice on protection and control systems across distribution and transmission networks
  • Lead the development and review of engineering designs, drawings, and documentation in accordance with standards and "Safety in Design" principles
  • Drive innovation by implementing new technologies and design practices to improve efficiency and quality
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
  • Engage with stakeholders across design, operations, and project delivery to ensure successful outcomes

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
  • 10+ years power industry experience with a minimum of 2 years as a technical leader.
  • Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or Registered Professional Engineer (RPEV/NER)
  • Extensive experience in secondary design, protection settings, and substation design within the power industry
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant engineering analysis tools (e.g., PowerFactory, PSSE, Sincal)
  • Strong understanding of IEC61850, SCADA, and protection relay configuration
  • Detailed knowledge of applicable Australian Standards, OH&S Act, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and mentoring skills within an engineering team
