Location: Stadium Drive Depot, Keilor Park
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 6:00pm (38-hour week, RDO applies)
Help Shape the Future of Brimbank's Urban Forest
We're seeking an experienced and passionate arborist to lead the way in managing and enhancing Brimbank's urban forest. This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact on the green landscape of one of Melbourne's most dynamic municipalities.
As the Urban Forest Project Manager in Parks, you'll play a vital role in protecting and expanding our urban tree population. Your work will influence how trees are integrated into our streetscapes and help create a healthier, more sustainable city for future generations. You'll implement programs and projects aimed at increasing Brimbank's tree numbers—particularly street tree and tube stock plantings—working collaboratively with Council teams, contractors, and state government authorities to deliver high-quality urban forest outcomes. Reporting to the Tree Services Coordinator – Arboriculture within the Parks Services Unit, you'll be based at the Keilor Depot and work closely with the Urban Forest Planner to achieve our shared vision of a greener, cooler Brimbank.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert support to the Tree Services Coordinator
- Manage and protect Brimbank's diverse urban tree population
- Deliver planting projects and urban greening programs across the municipality
- Contribute arboricultural insight to strategy, policy, planning and streetscape projects
- Collaborate across departments and with external partners to deliver tree planting programs.
- Utilise tree data to inform policy, strategy, and decision-making.
- Work with the Urban Forest Planner to implement Council's Urban Forest Strategy.
About You:
We're looking for a driven professional with:
- Proven expertise in urban tree management, plant identification, and vegetation assessment
- Strong leadership and communication skills to guide a high-performing team
- Excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in digital tools and the ability to adapt to new technologies
- Qualifications in Arboriculture or a related discipline
Why Join Us?
At Brimbank, you'll be part of a team committed to sustainable growth, community wellbeing, and environmental leadership. If you're passionate about urban greening and ready to lead meaningful change, we want to hear from you.
Benefits of working at Brimbank include:
- Rostered day off
- 36 hour working week
- Flexible work practices including hybrid working arrangements
- 16 days of personal leave per year (FTE)
- 16 weeks paid parental leave (FTE)
- 3 weeks partner leave
- Make a positive impact to your local community
