About the role

Due recent departure of one of the Directors has opened an opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our team. Working closely with the Director you will enjoy the opportunity to impress and advance.

This is a full-time opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join the professional practice team at Hellyer Wood Pty Ltd, located in Mornington, Victoria. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality tax and accounting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, with a focus on supporting the practice's growth and delivering exceptional client service.

What you'll be doing

  • Prepare and review complex tax returns, financial statements, and other accounting documentation for individual and business clients
  • Advise clients on tax planning strategies and ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations on tax-efficient structures and solutions
  • Liaise with clients, tax authorities, and other stakeholders to resolve queries and issues
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new processes and procedures to improve the practice's efficiency and effectiveness
  • Mentor and train junior members of the accounting team
  • Participate in business development activities to identify new growth opportunities

What we're looking for

  • Degree in Accounting or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in a public accounting practice
  • Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Extensive knowledge of tax legislation, accounting standards, and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse client portfolio and deliver high-quality services
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
  • Experience with Xero, Xero Tax, Karbon & Ignition softwares will be an advantage (but not essential)
