Queensland Corrective Services Academy delivers education, training, and professional development to staff across the state. As the Registered Training Organisation (RTO #5292) for QCS, the Academy builds the capability of a high-performing, multidisciplinary workforce.

This role strengthens core correctional practices through evidence-based research, with a focus on domestic and family violence, to support the learning and development of employees across the agency. It will also lead innovative approaches to practice improvement, fostering
collaboration and a culture of excellence.

Through a commitment to quality service delivery, the role contributes to reducing recidivism and supporting meaningful behaviour change in individuals under QCS management.

In this role you will:

  • Develop a team of professional staff through demonstrated competence in facilitation techniques including providing mentoring, coaching and performance feedback and appraisal processes.
  • Build and/or develop core capability in the Community and Specialist operations training function to ensure high quality training is sustained
  • Demonstrate a high level of understanding of contemporary correctional research, offender behaviour change approaches, including ongoing self-driven learning into contemporary domestic and family violence literature, legislation and policies such as the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act professional practice issues.
  • Manage own professional development needs within the scope of domestic and family violence to ensure currency of own knowledge of best practice approaches for the development of the team.
  • Oversee the training program quality for consistency, fit for purpose, improvements, and alignment with overall agency objectives to ensure this meets operational and RTO requirements
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including engagement with the agency's integrated service response for domestic and family violence to ensure service levels and training quality are being delivered to achieve strategic outcomes and to promote and support effective correctional practices.
  • Provide significant contribution to the continuous improvement of training across QCS, including data analysis on performance trends while also ensuring training content is designed to meet capability gaps identified
  • Ensure provision of internal and external performance reports as required.
  • Support QCSA management in the annual strategic and operational planning and budget forecasts
  • Manage internal quality management system processes including document control, data management and policy revisions to ensure we meet legislative and agency standards
  • Requite familiarisation with RTO frameworks and national qualifications standards, their application to training design and assessment to ensure compliance
  • Provide advisory services to senior management on a range of matters related to emerging risks and best practice approaches to systems, processes and functions.
  • Action the planning of a work area including direct input into the development of work plans, providing advice on priorities, solutions and strategies for monitoring progress and achieving required outcomes
  • Work with QCSA management and stakeholders to develop annual operational training plans and priorities and monitor their execution
  • Participate in annual auditing processes to ensure QCS meets its obligations as an RTO
