We are seeking a proactive Line 1 risk manager to lead IT & PMO risk and compliance across Australia. In this role you will lead a team of Risk Specialists (in‑house or outsourced) to embed and operationalise the risk management framework, ensure material technology and project risks are identified, assessed, monitored and managed within appetite.
You will drive a strong risk and compliance culture across IT, PMO and broader business stakeholders (Line 1, 2 and 3). You will partner with regional and global risk, compliance and audit teams to align with frameworks and regulations, oversee control testing, remediation and KRIs, and deliver clear, actionable reporting to senior stakeholders. To be successful in this role you will have excellent stakeholder management skills, strong ability to collaborate and the ability to coach and develop your team.

Key responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team of Risk Specialists to embed risk management into day‑to‑day IT & PMO operations.
- Establish and maintain robust processes for risk identification, assessment, control testing, remediation tracking and key risk indicators.
- Conduct risk assessments, ensure residual risks outside appetite are remediated or accepted, and manage remediation plans with accountable owners.
- Collaborate with Line 2 and Line 3 stakeholders to support audit activities, evidence gathering, management responses and remediation.
- Partner with regional and global teams to align local practice with global frameworks and regulatory requirements, escalating gaps where required.
- Lead post‑incident reviews, root cause analysis and regulatory notifications, and drive process improvements to address systemic issues.
- Produce and present risk metrics and scorecards to senior stakeholders, escalating non‑compliance to risk appetite timely and clearly.
- Provide SME guidance and coaching to build risk and control capability across IT & PMO teams.
About you:
- Strong business and technology acumen with an ability to think strategically and execute pragmatically.
- Proven experience in operational risk, technology risk or compliance within complex organisations.
- Excellent stakeholder management, relationship‑building and influencing skills (including influence without authority).
- Strong analytical, project management and organisational skills, with attention to detail.
- Comfortable working across regional and global stakeholders and staying up‑to‑date with regulatory change.
- Demonstrated ability to create a culture of risk awareness and align risk activity to business objectives.
- High standards of professionalism and ethics; ability to meet deadlines and self‑drive.
- Significant experience in an Information Security & Technology Risk function within a Financial Services organization.
- Experience with Asia Pacific Information Security regulations from APRA, MAS, IA & LFSA.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Technical discipline or equivalent experience.
- Certifications in Information Security &/or Risk Management – e.g. CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CERM.
- Proven experience in any IT functions outside of Risk Management.
- Demonstrated experience & strong knowledge of IT, Security, and Risk Management concepts, frameworks and standards.
