The Role: Accountant

Our client is a WA owned and operated company that specialises in civil, mining and construction. Due to continues growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced and qualified Accountant to join the business on a permanent basis.

As the Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including bookkeeping, payroll, cash flow management, and compliance reporting. You will manage the preparation of BAS, payroll tax, fuel rebates, and other financial claims.

This role works closely with the Financial Controller, CFO and senior leadership, and involves regular liaison with suppliers, clients, service providers, and the external tax accountant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all core accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll, and bank reconciliations
  • Oversee cash flow activities such as payment scheduling, collections, and forecasting
  • Prepare and submit indirect tax obligations (BAS, payroll tax) and rebate/grant claims
  • Deliver accurate and timely weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports and close-off processes
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities, and provide financial insights through variance analysis and management reporting
  • Maintain accounting systems, including end-of-period processing, user access, and system controls
  • Supervise and support admin and data entry staff, contributing to continuous improvement of financial procedures
  • Assist with commercial and contractual documentation, risk management, and support to the CFO as required

Key skills and qualifications required:

  • Current Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Qualified Accountant (beneficial to have CPA or CA, not essential)
  • 5+ years experience working in a similar role – Accountant / Accounts Officer.
  • Payroll experience
  • Effectively use MS Suite of programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
  • Good attention to detail.
