Salary - $75,728 - $82,329 pa plus superannuation & leave loading
Your role
The Administrative Assistant provides quality customer and support services to a broad range of stakeholders including but not limited to, administration and other staff in the office, other agencies, members of the public and offenders, to enable the efficient operation of the Community Corrections office.
What you'll do
As part of the role, the ideal candidate will be required to provide a high level of support to senior executive staff and work teams with the successful delivery of correctional and community administrative duties to ensure effective operation of the work area.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, however is not limited to the following.
- Undertake a variety of administrative activities for and on behalf of the Manager and/or a work team with or without collaboration of relevant stakeholders to ensure activities are completed effectively, records updated, feedback provided, and inquiries clarified as required.
- Maintain manual and digital records accurately and securely ensuring these are accessible.
- Respond efficiently to all inquiries and routine requests for information escalating enquiries as necessary, to ensure the provision of accurate information.
- Update records and databases, complying with records management processes, to ensure information is accurate and is stored correctly and accessibly.
- Requesting court depositions and records in a timely manner.
- Generate routine correspondence with a view to exchanging factual information whilst exercising discretion and judgement at all times, seeking supervisory direction as necessary.
- Participate in taking meeting minutes and provide a strong level of support, follow-up on actions as necessary whilst keeping all participants informed.
- Provide quality administrative services to support the effective operation of the Community Corrections office.

You will always maintain confidentiality whilst utilising your proven experience to meet the demands of this role effectively. Resilience, initiative, high attention to detail and accuracy along with the ability to work under pressure are the key attributes to succeed in this fast-paced role. Previous administration experience and ability to demonstrate a high level of computer skills including Microsoft Office suite as well as competency in applications such as record management systems is desirable. The ability to learn and grow in the role will be important in terms of understanding the role.

We do work that really matters
Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce reoffending and create safer communities. We house remand and sentenced inmates in correctional centres and supervise offenders serving orders in the community.
CSNSW provides reports and advice to courts and releasing/parole authorities and assesses offenders in the community and in custody for relevant interventions to reduce their risks of reoffending. CSNSW works in partnership with other government and non-government justice and human services agencies to support victims, facilitate restorative justice and promote reintegration.
Broken Hill Community Corrections is a small team that services the greatest geographical span of any office in the state. The team holds a community caseload, along with managing the Parole Unit attached to Broken Hill Correctional Centre.
The team consists of staff with varying degrees of experience and due to the nature of the location they have learnt to be flexible and creative when delivering service. This ingenuity expands to community service, programs and remote reporting.
