This position is based out of our Blaxland clinic, however, may also include preschool and school visits.

This can be either a Permanent Full-time, or Permanent Part-time position.

Job Description – Speech Pathologist duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting children with communication impairments due to disability, learning difficulty or developmental delays.
  • Supporting our neurodiversity affirming practice.
  • Advising parents or teachers on effective communication methods for children.
  • Devising communication strategies or identifying alternative communication devices for clients.
  • Writing up individual treatment plans.
  • Devising programs to support clients we service.
  • Conducting groups with children and adolescents.
  • Working together as a team to support clients.
  • Consulting with and reporting back to other treating health professionals, if required.
  • Devising policies and procedures that support our clients and practice.
  • Providing timely, evidence based, child centred therapy services to children and children with a disability.
  • Managing a mixed caseload of clients with varied needs, working with clients from the ages of 2-21, their families and carers to identify strengths, skills and goals.
  • Using appropriate assessment tools and methods to assess strengths and areas of development, to identify suitable intervention strategies.
  • Delivering therapy in a variety of environments, e.g. clinic based, schools/preschools, homes and via Telehealth.
  • Contributing proactively to the ongoing development of professional knowledge and skills within the Speech Pathology profession.

Highly Desirable:

  • A passion for working with children and helping them to thrive.
  • Passionate about learning and bringing ideas to support our practice to grow and develop.
  • Be able to work independently as well as in a group with other members of our team.
  • Have good organisation and communication skills and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of strengths-based practice, as well as family and person-centered approaches.
  • An understanding of the NDIS framework and working within a fee for service model is desired.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills – written, oral and listening.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Speech Pathology or a Masters of Speech Pathology. New Grads welcome
  • Discipline-specific professional registration (i.e., SPA)
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination (or valid exemption)
  • Police Check & International Police Check (only applicable to individuals who have lived overseas)
  • Drivers licence & access to a reliable vehicle
  • Car insurance
  • Professional Indemnity insurance
  • First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Certified proof of Working Rights in Australia - Passport or Australian Birth Certificate.
