Your role

The Senior Project Officer – Business Resilience & Emergency Management plays a key role within the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). This role sits within Corporate Services and directly supports the department's mission to safeguard vulnerable communities and ensure continuity of essential services during critical events.

What you'll do

Day-to-day, the Senior Project Officer manages the planning, development, and delivery of multiple complex projects focused on business continuity and emergency management. Responsibilities include stakeholder engagement, risk and issue management, budget oversight, and project evaluation. The role involves providing expert advice, coordinating resources, preparing reports, and supporting the implementation of resilience frameworks. It also includes mentoring team members and collaborating across units to ensure project outcomes align with departmental goals.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and purpose-driven team within the Infrastructure & Assets unit, based in Parramatta. The team culture is inclusive, responsive, and focused on delivering outcomes that support public safety and service continuity. What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in emergency management, business resilience or project management. They will demonstrate advanced project management capabilities, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence and negotiate effectively. Experience in managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects and a sound understanding of resilience frameworks and standards is essential. The candidate should be adaptable, collaborative, and committed to delivering quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.
