About the Role

The Coordinator, Foster & Kinship Care (Parental Leave Cover) plays a vital leadership role in ensuring the recruitment, training, assessment and ongoing support of Foster and Kinship Carers, and in ensuring children and young people in their care receive safe, trauma-informed and high-quality support.

You will provide supervision, guidance and professional oversight to Practitioners and Youth Workers (where applicable), ensuring the program meets legislative, licensing and organisational requirements, including the standards set by the Department of Communities (Child Safety Services). You will also support your team to deliver therapeutic and practical interventions aligned with individual care plans and funding requirements.

This is a full-time, fixed-term parental leave cover position until 23 November 2026, based at our Eight Mile Plains office, with regular work required across the Logan and South Brisbane service areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional supervision, coaching and mentoring to Practitioners and Youth Workers.
  • Build team capability, particularly in complex case work and trauma-informed practice.
  • Coordinate team communication and facilitate regular team meetings.
  • Ensure the Foster & Kinship Care program meets all statutory, licensing, contractual and organisational requirements.
  • Complete review and audit documentation for Anglicare and the Department of Communities.
  • Ensure records, assessments and care planning documentation meet best-practice and legislative standards.
  • Guide staff in assessing the needs of placements and implementing effective support strategies.
  • Support therapeutic interventions that empower carers to meet the needs of children and young people.
  • Oversee comprehensive assessments, care plans and reports, ensuring the best interests of the child remain central.
  • Build strong professional relationships with carers, children, young people and stakeholders.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with Child Safety Service Centres and Placement Services Units.
  • Lead or participate in stakeholder meetings involving complex case issues or program-level matters.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative and professional team environment aligned with Anglicare's Values.
  • Encourage team-based problem solving and shared practice approaches.
  • Provide proactive peer support and contribute to Children & Families team meetings.

About You

You are a compassionate, skilled and confident leader with experience in the child protection or OOHC environment. You demonstrate strong decision-making, high level communication skills and the ability to guide teams through complex situations. You build trust easily, work collaboratively with stakeholders and maintain professionalism and empathy under pressure.

You bring a culturally sensitive practice lens, a passion for quality care and a commitment to supporting both your team and the families we partner with.

Credentials and Qualifications

  • Current Blue Card
  • Current Licensed Care Service (LCS)
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Social or Behavioural Sciences (or similar)
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training, Assessment and Evaluation (desired)
  • Applied knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999 and OOHC care frameworks
  • Experience as a Child Protection or Out of Home Care Practitioner
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in community services quality systems or Human Service Quality Standards (desired)
