Position Overview:

Griffin Marine NSW team is seeking a highly experienced Leading Hand - Sheet Metal to coordinate and support a team of fabricators / boilermakers in marine vessel construction and repair. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fabricating, cutting, bending and assembling sheet metal components using a range of workshop machinery and tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate cabinets, doors, frames and other detailed bespoke metal components in accordance with ISO specifications.
  • Polish and finish metal components to high quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain machinery such as guillotines, press brakes, pan brakes, rollers, and CNC equipment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, while ensuring team adherence to Australian Standards and ISO 9001 requirements to maintain quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across all projects
  • Serve as the point of contact between workers and supervisors/project managers
  • Troubleshoot on-site issues and assist with complex fabrication tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of labour, materials, and progress
  • Ensure team compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and lead a team to ensure timely and high-quality completion of projects

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years post trade experience as a 1st Class Sheet Metal Worker.
  • Skilled in operating a wide range of sheet metal fabrication tools and machinery
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate teams and meet tight deadlines without compromising safety or quality
  • Must be able to pass a medical screening with the ability to obtain and hold a National Police Clearance check
