Young Contractors are seeking an experienced Leading Hand with a Carpentry trade and or Building background to join our team on a full-time basis.

Responsible for running work scopes, and managing labour & materials from small to large new builds and refurbishment projects.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Experience in Building Industry
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in the Building Industry
  • Carpentry Trade, Plumbing or Building specific would be advantageous
  • Must hold Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent building trade qualification
  • Ability to read and interpret plans
  • Implementation of the IMS (Integrated Management System), project specific Management Plans and / or SHEQ documents
  • Displaying and making Site Safety Rules available to personnel and visitors to the site
  • Understanding building codes, Legislation, and other legal requirements specific to projects
  • Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing YBC Policy and Procedures, complying with legal requirements
  • Apply HSE requirements, policies, and procedures to all works
  • Managing workplace injury, illness, and emergency management processes
  • Ensuring that teams are working together with the sole objective of adhering to deadlines, specifications, and codes
  • Implementing variations from the Project Manager / Project Supervisor
  • Completing project documentation, e.g. ITP's, Inspection Checklists, Daily Diaries, Emails
  • Strong business and finance knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office, Procore or similar Project Management program
  • Highly organised self-starter and possess effective time management skills
  • Manage crews across multiple sites
  • Take an active role in projects from estimation to completion
  • Assist Superviser in construction projects by planning, organising, and controlling, completing quality inspections, supervising sub-contractors and employees
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Valid Australian driver's licence and White Card (Construction Induction Card) required
  • Must have permanent Australian work rights or valid working visa
