The Recreation and Leisure Services Branch is responsible for the management, planning and development of recreation, leisure and sporting assets for residents, workers and visitors to the City. The Recreation unit is responsible for driving positive social and health outcomes for the community through passive and active recreation opportunities.
This position is responsible for the ongoing management of long-term hire agreements for clubs such as bowls, tennis, netball, dog obedience, table tennis, canoe, fly fishing and boxing). Notably, the Recreation Facilities and Contracts Officer will act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders at hard court venues and be responsible growing the occupancy and participation rates of the eight court Regional Netball Facility at Yarra Bend. This position requires a high level of engagement with club representatives and community hirers, in addition to a strong grasp of facility management.
This opportunity will suit an experienced recreation professional who has a strong understanding of facility operations and has existing competency in the area of developing and managing occupancy agreements, with experience in dealing with commercial operators and local clubs.
Some of key responsibilities include:
- Act as the primary point of contact within Council for liaison with sporting clubs, and hirers for Yarra's non-seasonal Recreation Facilities.
- Develop and Manage facility hire agreements, with the support of Property Services for sport facilities and pavilions
- Identify opportunity for growth (for local sporting groups and commercial operators) to enhance offerings for the Yarra community
- Administer the facility hire Expression of Interest process for outdoor courts, in a manner that promotes inclusion, equity, diversity and community partnerships
- Manage day to day venue operations at multiple sites, including bookings of facilities and ongoing maintenance enquiries
- Collaborate with the Sport Operations and Development Officer to deliver club development resources to assist clubs in building greater capacity and meeting the changing needs of the Yarra community
- Engage with facilities maintenance staff and contractors on a regular basis to ensure that recreation facilities are safe and fit for use
The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of the drivers associated with community sport, be a team player, self-motivated, have a high attention to detail and wanting to further enhance their existing skills in the field of Recreation.
