Laneway Talent is excited to be partnering with a leading federal government agency to recruit a Cyber Security Architect, with opportunities to work from anywhere in Australia.

This is an initial 12-month contract with potential for extension, based on performance and project outcomes. To be eligible, you must hold a current NV1 security clearance.

We're seeking professionals with expertise in cloud security, identity management, or secure software development, supported by qualifications in Cyber Security/ICT. Highly desirable certifications include TOGAF and/or SABSA, as well as CISSP, CCSP, or equivalent, with additional government-specific cyber security qualifications being an advantage. A deep understanding of government cyber threats and the ability to thrive in a high-security environment are essential.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Governance, Risk and Assurance, and ICT teams, while also engaging with project managers and external stakeholders. You'll play a key role in embedding security across system development and operations, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and maintain secure architecture frameworks aligned with government standards (ISM, PSPF, NIST).
  • Conduct threat modelling and risk assessments, recommending effective mitigation strategies.
  • Provide security guidance across IT projects, including cloud, infrastructure, and applications.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and data protection requirements.
  • Support incident response and contribute to post-incident reviews and remediation.
  • Monitor emerging threats and technologies to improve the agency's security posture.

Must Have

  • Experience in cyber security architecture, including secure system design and risk assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of government security frameworks and standards (ISM, PSPF, NIST).
  • Familiarity with cloud security and identity and access management.
  • Ability to explain complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience providing security oversight across IT projects (infrastructure and applications).
