Australia Meliore Foundation (FUP) Full time US$40,000 - US$60,000 per year
Description

The Junior Media Analyst & Project Coordinator plays a dual role within the Project Management Unit (PMU), with a primary focus on media monitoring and analysis (80%) and complementary support in project coordination (20%). This is an entry level position designed for someone eager to build skills in media analysis and project management while working within a fast-paced, mission driven, global team. You will help track media narratives, organise monitoring outputs, and contribute to the smooth coordination of projects across the PMU portfolio.

How you'll contribute

Media monitoring & analysis (80%)

  • Support the organisation and coordination of media monitoring tasks and workflows.
  • Track coverage across traditional and social media channels, identifying narratives, trends, spokespeople, and influencers relevant to the network's priorities.
  • Use media monitoring platforms (e.g. Brandwatch, MuckRack, or similar tools) to gather, structure, and maintain media data.
  • Produce summaries and reports that track media coverage and highlight trends or emerging narratives.
  • Maintain and regularly update media monitoring databases, filing systems, and outputs to ensure information is accurate and accessible.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate monitoring insights into planning, reporting, and decision making.
  • Support learning by helping document media monitoring best practices and contributing to the design of effective reporting products.
  • Assist in identifying coverage gaps and opportunities to strengthen monitoring approaches.

Project coordination (20%)

  • Provide light touch support in coordinating project activities, helping track timelines and deliverables within the PMU portfolio.
  • Support meeting logistics, including scheduling, agenda preparation, note-taking, and following up on action items.
  • Help maintain project management tools (e.g. Monday, Trello, Notion), ensuring updates reflect progress.
  • Assist in preparing project documentation, including trackers, contact lists, and status updates.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting the development of templates, systems, and shared resources.
  • Actively participate in training and team learning sessions to strengthen your media analysis and project coordination skills.
Our ideal candidate has
  • Experience in monitoring, analysing or reporting traditional, online or social media.
  • Experience or familiarity with media monitoring and analysis platforms such as Brandwatch, MuckRack, Meltwater, Event Registry or similar is highly desirable.
  • Ability to identify emerging narratives, coverage trends, and sentiment patterns in media outputs.
  • Comfort working with large volumes of media data, ensuring accuracy and consistency in tagging, categorisation, and reporting.
  • Experience in producing clear, structured reports and dashboards that translate the media outputs into products for management and teams.
  • Interest in improving monitoring processes by testing keywords, refining Boolean searches, and suggesting tool improvements.
  • Some experience in project coordination (including internships, voluntary, or part-time roles).
  • Basic understanding of project management concepts or eagerness to learn about predictive and agile approaches.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow through on tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both written and verbally.
  • Proactive, reliable, and eager to take on new responsibilities.
  • Confident working with tools such as Google Workspace, Monday, Trello, Slack, or similar.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, our working language; additional languages are a major asset.
  • A strong interest in current affairs and an avid consumer of the news is a plus.
  • A genuine interest in and passion for addressing climate change, communications, and equity-driven work.
  • The disposition to work generously with colleagues in a high-trust global community of peers.
  • Proven ability to work across cultures, time zones, and functional areas to deliver cohesive outcomes.
  • Given that we work across different time zones, some non-traditional hours for early or later calls may be required in this role.
Why join us?
  • Be part of a remote-first, international network of professionals working on climate, energy and nature. We offer coworking access in some locations.
  • Work with a bunch of dynamic, culturally diverse individuals who combine their passion to make a difference with a rigorous and results-oriented approach to work.
  • Enjoy regular opportunities to connect and collaborate with colleagues around the world.
  • A full-time position with a consultant contract, subject to location, for 12 months, with possible renewal after one year. Only candidates with the right to work in their location will be considered.

Location: Australia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia (remote)
