About the Role

Our clients are seeking a highly creative Art Director with proven experience in automotive advertising to join their Sydney-based team. Unlike a traditional advertising agency, our clients operate at the intersection of advertising, technology, and entertainment. The successful candidate will bring fresh visual ideas, strong design sensibilities, and a passion for storytelling within the car and automotive space. Working closely with clients and Creative Directors, this role is central to crafting impactful campaigns that inspire and engage audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative concept development and visual direction for advertising campaigns across digital, print, social, film, and experiential platforms.
  • Collaborate with Creative Directors to bring ideas to life that meet both client objectives and brand positioning.
  • Provide strong art direction on automotive campaigns, including TVCs, social assets, OOH, digital media, and brand content.
  • Oversee photo and video shoots, working with photographers, directors, and production teams to ensure high-quality creative output.
  • Apply hands-on skills in Unreal Engine and contribute to asset development, including modelling and texturing.
  • Manage and mentor junior designers and art team members.
  • Present creative concepts and visual solutions confidently to clients.
  • Stay current with design, advertising, and automotive trends, ensuring work is cutting-edge and relevant.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years' experience as an Art Director in advertising, creative, or production environments.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing automotive campaigns (TVCs, digital, OOH, social, etc.).
  • Proven ability to create compelling visuals and brand stories within the automotive category.
  • Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine, including asset creation (modelling, texturing, lookdev).
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong eye for detail, design, and brand consistency.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience directing shoots (cars, lifestyle, studio, location).
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across creative and production teams.
