About the role:

We are looking for a Production Manager - Afternoon Shift to report to the Operations Manager. You will be responsible for leading and managing a Sheet Metal and Assembly Plant (Commercial and Domestic) as well as a Controls Manufacturing Plant.

  • Shift Hours: 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM
  • Direct Reports: You will lead an Afternoon Shift Production Team of 20-30 employees

Key Responsibilities

Your focus will be on ensuring efficient operations, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Lead the afternoon shift, coordinating the production program according to the production plan.
  • Actively pursue all production issues, including quality, equipment status, and staffing levels.
  • Ensure full adherence to the company's WHS Policies and Procedures and Quality Systems by factory personnel.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports to develop in their positions.
  • Continually seek new / alternative methods to increase / enhance production or reduce waste.
  • Ensure effective utilisation and monitoring of all resources (materials, labour, machinery).
  • Conduct a daily shift handover with the Production Manager - Day Shift and the Operations Manager - Controls.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

We are seeking a strong leader with proven experience in manufacturing:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar leadership position within Manufacturing is essential.
  • Experience or qualifications in the HVAC industry are desirable but not essential.
  • An extensive understanding and working knowledge of manufacturing processes is required.
  • A sound understanding of an Assembly and Sheetmetal process and industry is essential.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and highly effective people skills.
  • A sound understanding and working knowledge of Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement Systems.
  • Strong computer literacy is essential , particularly with Microsoft Office products.
