About the role
SafeWork NSW is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to oversee our risk and business compliance functions. In this pivotal role, you will shape and embed a strong risk management culture, enhance organisational capability, and deliver robust assurance mechanisms that support statutory compliance and business continuity.
By integrating operational insights with strategic risk intelligence, you will enable SafeWork NSW to proactively manage risks, safeguard integrity, and achieve its strategic objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
As the Manager Risk & Business Resilience, you will:
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on enterprise risk management, compliance, governance, business continuity, and audit, ensuring timely and effective troubleshooting.
- Develop and implement the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and a comprehensive Compliance Framework, ensuring alignment with best practice for a modern, risk-based regulator.
- Lead the identification, assessment, and monitoring of enterprise risks, maintaining an up-to-date Risk Register and ensuring effective controls, treatments, and accountabilities.
- Oversee internal audit planning, liaise with auditors, and drive implementation of agreed audit actions.
Monitor organisational activities to identify gaps, assess deficiencies, and recommend policy or procedural amendments to mitigate risk and maintain compliance.
Drive governance, risk, and compliance improvement initiatives using data analysis, gap assessments, and scenario modelling to strengthen decision-making and resilience.
About You:
You are a strategic thinker with exceptional governance and risk management expertise, coupled with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive organisational improvement. Your strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills enable you to balance complex priorities while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
You will bring:
- Strong experience in enterprise risk, compliance, governance, and internal audit.
- Proven ability to design and implement risk and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent analytical skills to identify emerging risks and recommend solutions.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including influencing senior leaders.
- Demonstrated leadership in building specialist capability and driving improvement.
- Sound understanding of public sector governance and regulatory requirements (or ability to quickly learn).
- Resilience and adaptability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
