The Department's Energy Infrastructure Division within the Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability (ECCS) group are seeking to appoint Assistant Policy and Project Officers to provide strategic policy advice to deliver critical projects and support the development and delivery of energy infrastructure and business and industry decarbonisation initiatives.
About the teams
The Energy Infrastructure Division leads initiatives to maintain a safe, secure and reliable electricity and gas supply while advancing the shift to a clean, affordable energy future for New South Wales. The Energy Infrastructure Division is responsible for policy stewardship, regulation, and investment across energy infrastructure and markets, including generation, storage, networks, and fuel pipelines, and leads emergency coordination for the energy sector and provides expert technical advice and oversight.
The Energy Infrastructure Division is recruiting Assistant Policy and Project Officers across the following teams:
- Infrastructure Economics team, providing advice on and leading reform of the economic regulation of electricity networks and gas pipelines.
- Network Planning and Contestability team, responsible for formulating NSW Government's policy on electricity network planning regulation, including implementation of reforms recommended through the NSW Transmission Planning Review.
About you
You will be a proactive and organised professional who can manage competing priorities, make sound day-to-day decisions, and work independently while knowing when to escalate or seek guidance. You will demonstrate that you:
- Achieve assigned policy and project objectives within a high volume, complex and evolving work environment.
- Provide policy analysis and advice to support the development and delivery of strategic projects and initiatives.
- Collect and analyse information from a variety of sources to understand the subject matter and provide advice.
- Desire to learn by working closely with colleagues on various tasks.
- Engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
A background in energy is preferred but not essential.
Essential Requirements –
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or relevant experience.
