The company successfully operated a mine and processing facility at its Boonanarring Mineral Sands Project and is currently operating its 100%-owned, high-grade, zircon-rich flagship Atlas Mineral Sands Project.

The Role

An exciting opportunity is available at our Boonanarring Operations for a Mine Closure Technician.  The Mine Closure Technician is responsible for assisting in the safe and efficient care, maintenance and progressive rehabilitation of a mine site that has ceased operations. The role ensures that the site is maintained in compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory obligations.

Responsible for:

• Conduct regular inspections of site infrastructure (eg; pumps, pipelines, power supply, water management systems, processing facilities).
• Monitor water management systems, including pit dewatering, tailings storage facilities, and stormwater controls.
• Support site access and security requirements, including inspections, reporting hazards, and maintaining records.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) obligations, including hazard identification, risk reporting, and incident response.
• Assist with the coordination of progressive rehabilitation works including bulk earthworks, topsoil spreading, drainage control, and revegetation activities.
• Operate light and medium mobile equipment.
• Carry out environmental monitoring (eg; water sampling, dust monitoring) and provide accurate records to the Environmental team.
• Support contractors and consultants undertaking Mine Closure and Rehabilitation activities.
• Assist in ensuring works are conducted in line with environmental management plans, mine closure plans and regulatory obligations.
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and checklists relating to inspections, maintenance, and rehabilitation activities.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in site care, maintenance and rehabilitation processes.
• Provide alternate Senior Site Executive coverage if required.

About you

• A minimum of three (3) years' experience working on a mine site, with experience in mine closure or rehabilitation highly regarded.
• Proven competence in operating light vehicles and mobile equipment.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, with a sound understanding of WHS standards, policies, and safe work practices.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small, team-oriented environment.
• Basic computer literacy, including the ability to complete reports and maintain accurate records.
• You must be physically fit and able to perform the requirements of the role.
• Have a current motor vehicle driver's license.
