Cathy's Helping Hands are a NDIS service provider specialising in delivering quality, individualised and flexible support services to the elderly, mental health clients, young and old people living with a disability. We also provide a broad range of services to clients outside the NDIS. We also services to people on works compensation and in the private sector.

Candidates must obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check within 60 days of commencement.

Cathy's Helping Hands support/cleaning services we take pride in improving the everyday lives of our customers through providing quality services.

After significant growth we are looking for support workers/cleaners to join our team for an immediate start and help drive our business forward.

We're looking for experienced Female support workers/cleaners in the Canberra & Queanbeyan areas to work with people with complex needs and challenging behaviours. The ideal support worker will be seeking stable and consistent work, happy to work with a flexible availability, available to work 2–8-hour shifts, including active overnight shifts.

Australian citizenship is required for this position.

A minimum of 6 months experience in disability support or aged care is required.

A Working with Vulnerable People check must be obtained within 30 days of commencement.

This role is specified as female only due to client preference.

We are also looking for a female work to do sleep overs. We require a candidate who is not a heavy sleeper as you may have to provide support during the night.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Support the development of daily living skills and capacity for self-care
  • Providing timely and accurate case notes
  • Develop professional relationships with individuals, their families and others in the community
  • Manage challenging behaviours should this arise
  • Provide support to work towards individual goals
  • Cleaning house

To give you a sense of what the day-to-day job may look like, here are some examples of things that we might do with our customers:

  • Meeting clients in home and cleaning bathroom, kitchen, vacuum, moping, dusting, folding clothes,
  • Meet them in their homes for a cup of tea/coffee and a chat about how they are travelling that week
  • Help them with their daily living tasks, such as shopping for groceries or attending a doctor's appointment, go to ten pin bowling etc
  • Going for a walk in the park and enjoying nature
  • Helping with personal administration, e.g Centrelink, paying bills, looking for housing
  • Supporting them to feel more confident in busy social situations by going to the local shopping centre together
  • Improving physical health by supporting them to attend a gym or exercising outdoors
  • Helping them to live independently by assisting with gardening or cleaning at home

You will work mostly independently, although your supervisor will be there to support and guide you and assist you with any practice related issues that arise.
