The Role

The Data Scientist will be part of the Seequent Imago machine learning (ML) team, a research, prototyping, and production delivery team with a culture of creating innovative ML solutions. As a Data Scientist you will contribute to a multi-disciplinary team with your expertise in machine learning, AI, and data though novel and creative applications. This team currently targets the area of downhole core image analysis, delivering these solutions through the Seequent Imago solution.

Key aspects of the role will include, but not be limited to:

• Problem-solve using machine learning, scientific computing, and data analytics techniques.
• Producing innovative machine learning and data analysis applications (design, maintenance, and deployment).
• Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of existing ML and analytics tools.
• Contribute to the planning and development of new ML and analytics services.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers within and outside the team.

To be successful in this role, the following technical qualifications, experience, and skills are required:

• Bachelor's degree in data science, a quantitative science, mathematics, computer science, or an appropriately related field.
• 5+ years working in relevant data scientist roles.
• Experience using Python for computer vision tasks/analysis.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining machine learning models and data pipelines.
• Commercial software development experience.
• Experience working with cloud-based data solutions.

In addition, you should have the following attributes:

• Excellent technical skills in data analytics, machine learning and software development consistent with prior experience and formal training.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and build sustainable working relationships.
• Tenacity, persistence, and enthusiasm for problem solving and continual learning.

Location and additional Information

This is an office-based role, and you are required to be in the Perth Seequent Office three days per week (3 days a week in the office and 2 from home).
