The Grounds & Turf Management Officer (GTMO) plays a vital role in maintaining the College's playing ovals and sports grounds to a safe and high-quality standard. This includes the preparation and care of turf surfaces and cricket wickets in line with scheduled matches and training sessions, as well as ensuring irrigation systems are functioning optimally. As a member of the Property & Facilities Management team, the GTMO also contributes to general maintenance tasks, function setups, porterage, and security duties. The role requires a proactive approach to grounds care, equipment maintenance, and teamwork, with a strong focus on safety and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement turf renovation and irrigation programs
  • Maintain cricket wickets and sports grounds to specified standards
  • Conduct inspections of sports surfaces and equipment
  • Operate and maintain grounds machinery and tools
  • Assist with general grounds maintenance including pruning, fertilising, and weed control
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Team and College staff to achieve shared goals

Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or equivalent experience
  • Forklift Licence
  • ChemCert qualification (desirable)
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Provide First Aid Certificate
  • Current Driver's Licence (MR licence desirable)
  • Proven ability to operate and maintain grounds equipment safely
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
