The National Sales Manager will drive sales growth for our client's global truck brand across Australia by leading and supporting their National Dealer Network. This pivotal role will be responsible for maximizing sales volumes, identifying and onboarding new dealers in key markets, and ensuring best-in-class dealer engagement. The ideal candidate will possess significant truck industry experience at both wholesaling and retailing levels.

Responsibilities:

Sales Leadership:

  • Develop and execute national sales strategies to achieve business objectives and volume targets.
  • Analyze market trends and performance, providing guidance to dealers to capitalize on opportunities.

Dealer Network Management:

  • Foster productive relationships with existing dealers to optimize sales performance, customer satisfaction, and retention.
  • Conduct regular dealer visits and performance reviews; provide support and training as necessary.
  • Identify geographic areas with network gaps; proactively recruit, select, and appoint new dealers as required.

Dealer Selection & Expansion:

  • Establish and implement criteria for selecting suitable new dealers.
  • Screen, interview, and recommend dealer candidates to management.
  • Oversee the onboarding, launch, and integration of new dealers into our client's global truck brand network.

Business Development & Retail Support:

  • Work closely with both the wholesale and retail teams to ensure seamless execution of marketing campaigns, promotions, and launches.
  • Assist dealers with major fleet deals, tender submissions, and negotiate key contracts where appropriate.

Sales Reporting & Forecasting:

  • Track and report on national and regional sales performance using CRM and business intelligence tools.
  • Provide regular reports, forecasts, and market feedback to senior management.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor regional sales staff and provide ongoing coaching to drive results and professional growth.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years' truck sales experience (essential), with demonstrable exposure to both wholesaling (OEM/distributor) and retail (dealership) operations.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, sales, automotive or related field (desirable but not essential).
  • Sound knowledge of the Australian truck market and distribution networks.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and influence dealer networks.
  • Experience in dealer recruitment, selection, and network expansion.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and results orientation.
  • Willingness to travel nationally as required (with the occasional overseas visit).
