About the RoleWe are seeking compassionate and experienced Disability Support Workers for a part-time permanent position to provide exceptional in-home care to our clients in southern Adelaide, particularly those with mental health conditions. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities, including psychosocial disabilities, to achieve their NDIS goals, maintain independence, and engage in their communities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide person-centered support in clients' homes, including assistance with daily living activities (e.g., personal care, meal preparation, household tasks).
- Support clients with mental health conditions to achieve their NDIS goals, such as emotional regulation, social participation, and community engagement.
- Implement strategies to support mental health and wellbeing, including de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention when required.
- Foster positive relationships with clients, their families, and support networks.
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes in line with NDIS standards.
- Promote independence, dignity, and respect in all interactions.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols, including manual handling and infection control.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Mental Health, or equivalent (or currently studying).
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions or psychosocial disabilities in a disability or community services setting.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid South Australian Driver's License and reliable vehicle.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of NDIS principles, including person-centered care and choice and control.
Desirable:
Training or experience in mental health support, such as Mental Health First Aid, trauma-informed care, or crisis intervention.
- Knowledge of the southern Adelaide community and local mental health resources.
- Experience with manual handling and supporting clients with mobility needs.
- Ability to work with diverse client groups, including those with physical, intellectual, or psychosocial disabilities.
- Stable part-time permanent role with consistent hours hours per week).
