Tristek Pty Ltd is a family-owned manufacturing, engineering process control automation contracting business, established in 1986 and proudly servicing NSW's industrial and manufacturing sectors. We design, build, and maintain automation systems, process equipment, and custom-engineered solutions for leading clients in oil, food, and manufacturing industries.
This is not a plain drafting role. At Tristek, you'll create fabrication-ready CAD drawings that move directly into our workshop, where you'll see your designs built into real machinery. You'll also use 3D scanning of equipment and sites to design layouts and machinery that impress clients and solve problems before a single piece of steel is cut.
Your role will go beyond design: you'll assist with project management, guiding the team to complete projects on time, and you'll manage our Autodesk Inventor Vault, maintaining records of past builds while preparing future designs for customers.
Every week brings variety from machine prototyping to stainless steel process systems to conveyors, blending plants, and robotics integration. Tristek offers a rare mix of design freedom, practical engineering, and project leadership, all in a stable, family-owned company that has been innovating for nearly 40 years.
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. To be involved in supporting our workshop fabrication and site-install projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, and support mechanical systems for industrial and process automation projects.
- Prepare drawings, BOMs, and specifications for fabrication.
- Provide hands-on input during assembly, testing, and commissioning.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, automation, and workshop teams.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of workshop standards and design practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 2+ years' experience in industrial, manufacturing, or process environments.
- Strong CAD design skills (Inventor/SolidWorks/AutoCAD) we use Inventor.
- Practical knowledge of fabrication, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to work both in design office and hands-on workshop/site environments.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Exposure to diverse projects from stainless steel fabrication and robotics integration to large-scale process plant upgrades.
- Supportive, family-based team culture with direct involvement in decision-making.
- Career development opportunities in automation and integrated engineering.
- Competitive salary package aligned with experience.
- Long-term stability in a well-established business with strong client relationships.

3. Variety of ProjectsOne week it could be stainless pipework for a food plant, the next an oil blending system, then a custom conveyor for manufacturing. You won't be pigeonholed you'll touch food, oil & gas, manufacturing, even government R&D (CSIRO, defence, etc.).
