Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Level 3 Mechanical Design Engineer with demonstrated expertise in railway signal mechanical engineering. The role requires a senior professional who can lead the checking, verification, and final sign-off of mechanical designs in compliance with engineering and regulatory standards ( QR Rail).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform checking, verification, and final sign-off of mechanical design deliverables to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with railway signaling mechanical engineering standards and relevant industry codes.
- Review and validate scope documents, design drawings, and technical specifications.
- Maintain documentation to meet audit and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Mentor and support junior engineers in mechanical design best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent qualification acceptable for professional membership with Engineers Australia).
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) accreditation (current).
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in railway signal mechanical engineering.
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and safety practices related to rail infrastructure. Mandatory Documentation
- Certified copy of engineering qualification.
- Certified copy of current RPEQ Certificate.
- Work Experience / Log Book demonstrating current and relevant experience. Skills & Competencies High attention to detail and ability to identify design issues.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
