
Procurement Operations Lead

As the Procurement Operations Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving the City's procurement strategy and operational excellence. This position leads the procurement operations stream, ensuring timely contract renewals, strategic sourcing, and the implementation of safe work practices. With a strong focus on value for money, you will champion cost-effective, high-quality outcomes that support the City's long-term goals and deliver measurable impact across our services.
As Procurement Operations Lead, your focus will be on:
- Leading complex procurement activities including high-value tenders, contract negotiations, and renewals that directly support the City's strategic goals.
- Deliver end-to-end tender processes for specialised procurement's, ensuring full compliance with legislation, codes of practice, and internal policies.
- Manage contractor performance and risk while fostering strong, professional relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and accountability.
- Prepare and present strategic procurement insights through reports, briefings, and submissions to senior leadership, especially for complex and high-impact contracts.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence by leading procurement operations, overseeing inventory and stores, and coordinating city-wide tender and quote programs.

You're not just great at managing contracts, you're a natural leader who builds strong teams and even stronger supplier relationships.
Here's what you'll bring to the role:
- A degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Law, Business or a related field, backed by hands-on experience in managing complex tenders and contracts.
- A knack for leading people, you're experienced in coaching, mentoring, and building a positive team culture that gets results.
- Deep knowledge of procurement legislation and best practices, with a proven ability to draft and deliver high-value, high-impact contracts.
- Strong skills in contractor performance management, inventory oversight, and risk-based decision-making.
- Current Driver Licence and Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People, ready to hit the ground running.
