LANDING GEAR REPAIR/OVERHAUL TECHNICIAN

Key Responsibilities:


• Inspection & Repair:

Conduct thorough inspections of landing gear assemblies and components, identifying wear, damage, or malfunctions.


• Overhaul:

Disassemble, clean, measure, and reassemble mechanical and hydraulic sub-assemblies according to approved procedures. Inspection criteria include the ability to confidently and accurately take measurements of bores, scratches, cross-sectional diameters etc.


• Component Work:

Perform repairs on detail parts, including polishing, welding, de and re-chroming, and replacing seals of the shock strut and the assembled test procedure.


• Testing:

Operate various test equipment from milliohm meters, multimeters, surface roughness testers, micrometer and bore gauge testers, nital etch testing, ndt including FPI, MPI and E/C etc to ensure all components, particularly hydraulic systems, are functioning correctly and efficiently.


• Documentation:

Accurately document all repair and overhaul work, preparing and signing off on required documents and ensuring compliance with CASA regulations, Company Procedure and Customer Policy.


• Compliance:

Adhere to all manufacturer specifications, technical manuals, and strict aviation safety regulations, such as those from the CASA and AVCRO.


• Specialised Procedures:

May perform complex procedures like non-destructive testing (NDT), shot peening and media blasting, chromium plating, aluminium anodising, hydrogen embrittlement relief baking, hardness testing & standard and wet-grinding machining etc to restore components. 

Experience/Qualifications:


• Demonstrated experience in a similar Component Maintenance environment


• The ability to lead by example, as well as consistently motivate and drive your team to successful outcomes


• Strong at delegating tasks to the correct people as per hierarchy tree and ensuring you and your team take ownership of tasks through to completion


• Commercial awareness and respect for cost control and resource allocation


• Strong communication skills, and the ability to build successful and collaborative working relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholder groups


• Strong computer skills & literacy
