Are you an experienced Underwriter with a passion for Construction and Infrastructure risks? 

We have an opportunity for an experienced Construction / Contract Works Underwriter to join a highly regarded Underwriting Agency that's expanding its footprint in the Construction space.

You'll work closely with senior management and distribution teams and be part of a collaborative, high-performing culture that values technical expertise and commercial thinking.

About the Role

As a key member of the underwriting team, you will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of Contract Works and Construction business. You'll assess complex risks, negotiate terms with brokers, and deliver high-quality underwriting decisions aligned with our clients' appetite and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite Contract Works and Construction risks within delegated authority.
  • Analyse and price new and renewal submissions to ensure profitable growth.
  • Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams including claims, risk engineering, and product development.
  • Contribute to product innovation and underwriting guidelines.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to support strategic decisions.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical underwriting knowledge with commercial acumen and a genuine interest in the construction sector. You will need to have: 

  • Proven experience underwriting Contract Works or Construction risks.
  • Solid understanding of construction projects and associated exposures.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making abilities.
  • ANZIIF qualifications preferred
