Your Role

Our Construction team focuses on delivering tailored coverage to meet the unique needs of our clients. We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Construction Underwriter to enhance our underwriting capabilities and drive business growth. You will utilize your expertise to underwrite new and renewal Construction accounts, develop creative underwriting solutions, and build strong relationships with brokers. Your ability to navigate complex underwriting scenarios and foster collaboration will be key to your success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwriting Expertise: Oversee the underwriting of a well-established Construction book
• Creative Problem Solving: Develop innovative solutions for unique underwriting situations, tailoring coverage to meet specific client needs.
• Advanced Pricing Techniques: Utilize your understanding of advanced pricing techniques such as retro rating and experience modification, knowing when and how to implement and communicate these strategies effectively.
• Marketing and Account Management: Collaborate in developing marketing plans and managing complex accounts
• Broker Engagement: Navigate the broker selection and appointment process, ensuring that relationships with key producers are cultivated and maintained.
• Custom Coverage Recommendations: Make informed recommendations for tailoring coverage and Manu scripting policies, ensuring alignment with client needs and company guidelines.

• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively within a team environment, engaging with Claims, Loss Control, and other Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and management to coordinate underwriting efforts.

Key Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Construction role within an insurance company.
• Proven track record of developing creative solutions for unique underwriting challenges.
• Strong understanding of advanced pricing techniques and account servicing costs.
• Experience with developing marketing plans and handling complex accounts.
• Familiarity with the broker selection and appointment process.
• Excellent analytical skills combined with the ability to interpret claims data effectively.
• Exceptional collaboration, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Strong ability to mentor and train entry-level underwriters and guide new hires.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
