About the Opportunity

The Advisor Work Health and Safety is responsible for ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities, is accountable and is proactive about safety. A primary focus of the role of WHS Advisor is to engage WDRC in commitment to an enhancement of safety in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities

This role encompasses a range of duties and responsibilities which may vary as directed by Council. The key ones include:

(1) Providing expert safety advice using business acumen to internal and external customers of WDRC, regarding best practice safety procedures and initiatives;

(2) Developing engagement initiatives to integrate and build relationships with all levels of the business on a regular and ongoing basis as part of promoting a dynamic safety culture and cohesive team environment;

(3) Developing a chain of responsibility safety culture by actively participating and being involved in resolutions that support the welfare of employees and ensure that everyone at WDRC understands their responsibilities and is accountable for their own based across our regional centres including Dalby, Chinchilla, Miles, Tara and Wandoan - Queensland.

About Yourself

A person in this position will need to hold a:

(1) relevant Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience; and

(2) current drivers' licence.

It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have a:

(1) minimum of three (3) years' experience as a WH&S Advisor with a multi-disciplinary organisation; and

(2) current Queensland Rehabilitation Coordinator Certificate, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and WH&S Auditor Certificate.
