About the OpportunityBawinanga Aboriginal Corporation is looking for a full-time Workshop Supervisor based in Maningrida, NT.
Reporting to the Manager – Construction & Commercial Trade Services, you'll oversee day-to-day workshop operations across both Light Vehicle (LV) and Heavy Vehicle (HV) services, with a stronger focus on the LV side. You'll lead a small team, mentor apprentices, and ensure that quality repairs and maintenance services are delivered to support BAC's essential community operations.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Planning and overseeing workshop operations across HV and LV repairs
- Supervising and mentoring mechanics, apprentices, and tyre fitters
- Managing Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PMS) and delegating tasks
- Ensuring high standards of safety, documentation, and customer service
- Managing inventory and spare parts, including the retail outlet and recycling yard
- Providing hands-on technical support and guidance when needed
- Fostering teamwork in a cross-cultural environment and supporting local upskilling
- Contributing to a strong safety culture and continuous improvement
We're looking for skilled Mechanics Leaders with experience in light vehicles and heavy vehicles.
To qualify, you'll need:
- Trade qualifications in Light Vehicle and/or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
- A valid Driver's Licence
- Experience in inventory and parts management
- At least 5 years' experience supervising workshop operations
- Strong technical knowledge, especially in LV servicing and repairs
- A willingness to work in a remote Aboriginal community setting
- WHS awareness and a high standard of documentation and communication
Additionally, we value candidates who have:
- Previous experience in a community development or not-for-profit organisation
- Diesel fitter, air-conditioning, or HR/MR licences
- Experience in remote/Indigenous settings
- National Police Clearance with no criminal convictions
- NT Roadworthy certification capability (advantageous)
