Are you an Occupational Therapist with experience in hand therapy, who would thrive in our bright and colourful tertiary paediatric hospital setting? Would you like to join our friendly and dynamic team to further clinical expertise across different paediatric hand therapy specialties and to lead and participate in quality improvement and research initiatives?

This Role:

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) is excited to have a number of new part time Grade 2 occupational therapy positions available.

This role sits within the Occupational Therapy (OT) Hand Therapy stream who service infants, children and adolescents with an acquired or congenital hand difference, primarily from Plastic Surgery, Burns and Orthopaedics. Service delivery within other OT clinical areas may be required to meet workforce demands.

Classification for this position will range from VF6-VF9 Grade 2 Year 1 to Grade 2 Year 4 (FTE base salary $90,235 to $103,724 per annum, plus superannuation).

What You'll Achieve:

  • In collaboration with patients and their families and the multidisciplinary team, provide assessment and interventions for patients with upper limb injuries and conditions.

  • Evidence based and outcome focussed intervention that make an impact on meaningful outcomes for infants, children and young adults during their individual healthcare journey

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in providing assessment and intervention to outpatients with a range of upper limb musculoskeletal conditions and functional impairments in a time-limited acute model of care

  • Experience working with children

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and refer to community service providers for ongoing care where required

  • Have confidence in educating patients/parents/discipline staff/ multidisciplinary team and members of the wider community to minimise risk and promote successful outcomes for patient care

  • Be committed to evidence-based practice, and integration into everyday clinical care

About the Department:

The Occupational Therapy department is within the Division of Ambulatory Services. We provide inpatient and outpatient services for infants, children, adolescents with a wide range of medical conditions. Our inpatient services include General Medicine, Surgical, Trauma, Neurosciences, Neonates, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Oncology, and Respiratory. Outpatient services include specialist assessment clinics (autism and developmental), specialist tertiary clinics for management of neurological/ neurodevelopmental and/or musculoskeletal conditions, including hand therapy, burns and limb difference. Our team works closely with families, carers, community services and other health care professionals to ensure the best occupational therapy outcomes for our patients.

Other Requirements:

  • Recognised graduate-entry qualification in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate)

  • Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain

  • Valid Working with Children Check

  • Compliance with RCHs "Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases" procedure
