We're seeking an organised and collaborative UI Art Director / Artist to help shape the visual design and user experience of a unique hybrid VR app developed for Meta Quest 2.

This project combines 3D VR180 video playback with interactive mini-games, creating a cohesive, visually rich training experience that blends storytelling and interactivity.

The product comprises five chapters, each featuring:

  • 3D VR180 video sequences, and
  • Simple interactive gameplay components.

Total playtime is approximately 1 hour, including 30 minutes of immersive video content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and direct the overall UI art style across both the VR and video components:
  • Develop layouts and visual treatments for main menus, popup information panels, and in-video typography.
  • Ensure consistent visual language and legibility within VR180 environments.
  • Create a client-facing Art Style Guide, based on supplied wireframes, placeholder art, and the functional UE5 Android build (targeting Quest 2).
  • The guide will serve as a key document for client approvals and dev team implementation.
  • Unify and refine visual assets within the existing UE5 build and Resolve timeline:
  • Review and integrate elements produced by other team members.
  • Establish a cohesive and achievable visual style for 3D environments optimised for Quest 2.
  • Look development and asset creation:
  • Produce placeholder and concept artwork to capture the intended art direction.
  • Opportunity to create final 2D and UI assets (e.g. icons, buttons, overlays) for the right candidate.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a UI or UX-focused Art Director / Artist, ideally within VR, games, or interactive media.
  • Strong understanding of UE5 workflows and mobile VR (Quest 2) performance constraints.
  • Skilled in developing clear, cohesive, and immersive UI systems.
  • Excellent design sensibility and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work closely with developers, producers, and external vendors.
