Visual Designer

At Cahoot Learning, we design and deliver workforce learning initiatives within companies, government agencies and industry bodies to help them create a culture of learning and to deliver on specific education projects and strategic goals. Cahoot Learning is brilliant at creating communities where people come together, learn, and grow their capabilities through collaboration and by building relationships at scale.
Cahoot Learning is a team of learning designers, product builders, developers, problem-solvers, achievers, and friends.
About the role:
We're looking for a Visual Designer who thrives in a small, innovative environment and enjoys being the go-to visual specialist in a multidisciplinary team. You'll be responsible for shaping the visual experience of our learning products – bringing client brands to life through platform-based design, course branding, and templated collateral that sit within our proprietary learning environment.
You'll be part of the Product team, working under the direction of the Head of Learning and Product. You'll collaborate closely with developers, learning designers and project managers to ensure every visual element reflects both client identity and Cahoot Learning's high design standards. You'll also be a key member working closely with the development team to lend design input to our platform's user interface – advising, not owning, UI design decisions as part of the product development process.
This role suits someone who:
- Enjoys the day-to-day craft of designing for digital learning products – branding courses, building templates and creating visually cohesive systems.
- Is comfortable being the sole visual designer, collaborating across disciplines in a highly supportive, non-hierarchical team.
- Prefers working from home and understands that connection in a remote environment takes deliberate effort.
- Is naturally curious, with a desire to learn how our platform works – and why our approach to social learning and capability development is distinctive.
Key responsibilities:
Visual branding and course experience
- Translate client brand guidelines into platform-based designs for courses, events and communities.
- Create and maintain scalable visual systems and templates for diverse corporate and creative environments.
- Balance client branding with usability, accessibility and learner experience.
- Ensure consistency across all digital learning assets and products.
Internal collateral and documentation
- Design and maintain branded templates for reports, proposals and presentations.
- Act as the internal go-to for formatting and visual polish across proposals and internal documentation.
- Develop clear, professional layouts that reflect Cahoot Learning's visual standards.
UI advisory (secondary)
- Contribute to platform design discussions, offering practical UI insight under the direction of the Head of Product.
- Support the Product and Development teams by identifying opportunities for visual and functional improvement.
- Stay informed on interface design trends and bring informed, grounded advice to team discussions.
- Immerse yourself in Cahoot Learning's platform and philosophy. Understand how and why it works, how our products are deployed, and how thoughtful design supports our social learning vision. This depth of understanding will enable you to offer meaningful UI input and help shape future product innovation.
Skills and experience:
- Proven experience in visual design and branding for digital products or learning environments.
- Portfolio demonstrating experience in systemised digital design rather than campaign or print work.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and other relevant design tools.
- Strong branding, layout and visual systems skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration habits suited to remote work.
- Familiarity in UI design and UX principles with willingness to contribute thoughtfully as part of a team.
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 standards highly desired
Desirable attributes:
- Experience in responsive and web-based product design.
- Experience working in small teams where designers, developers and product managers collaborate directly.
- Comfortable juggling multiple projects and communicating progress clearly.
Location and hours:
This is a remote role, but candidates must be based within Victoria, Australia, as occasional office days in the Melbourne CBD may be required.
Most of the Cahoot Learning team work remotely from home, but consistent access to the Melbourne CBD office during normal business hours is available if desired.
You'll work standard hours with flexibility as agreed.
Remuneration:
Starting salary of $75,000 per annum, increasing to $85,000 per annum on successful completion of probationary period, plus super guarantee (currently 11.5%).
Applications close:
Sunday November 16th, 2025.
Please submit your application along with your resume and cover letter using the Quick Apply or Apply Now button. To be considered for the position, please complete the steps sent from our HR system to complete the application process.
